Contrarian's Game Cafe

I went to Contrarian's trying to get some MTG cards and I was very happy with the selection. I ended up getting quite a few Foundation's play boosters and kinda just randomly chose some. A very kind young lady helped me checkout and I was also very happy with the price I paid. I ended up pulling a Sire of Seven Deaths from one of the packs, one of the cards I was seriously looking for. All in all, I highly recommend. Even if you're thing isn't Magic: The Gathering, they've got plenty of other things to get invested into. Awesome place, fantastic prices, great atmosphere, wonderful and helpful employees. Looking forward to going again!

Instagram and Google reviews spoke, and we listened! We came to check it out on a date night, thinking maybe we'd play a game or two and then go on to dinner and other things. We ended up staying and ordering pizza from Mighty Munch Mtn Curry Pizza (they delivered our pizza to us at Contrarians!!! ) and enjoyed some more games. This store fills a giant hole in Vancouver. While some game stores can feel a bit dim and cluttered, this one is spacious; well lit; and so very clean. Their game library and the games they sell were organized so you can easily peruse the selection. They have a good variety of different size tables to accommodate small groups up to large parties. One of the owners (recognized him from Instagram) sat down with two customers and taught them how to play one of the games, which I thought was above and beyond the call of duty. Amazing. If you love games, come support this place! Their prices for food and games are totally reasonable!

My family has come here twice to play games. We've enjoyed ourselves both times. I'm always blown away at how impeccably clean they keep their bathrooms. In the bathroom they offer female products Just. I find that to be incredibly sweet. I also like how they have support bars in place for people. Staff is friendly. They sell coffee and snacks here.

Contrarian Gaming Cafe is simply amazing! Years ago, I used to commute to Portland and I would stop in to Off the Charts out in Gresham. They were famous for having Will Wheaton state that they were the “best game store around.” I think Contrarian lives up to that mark. The owner is very friendly and he is happy to talk to you about all things board game related and beyond. They have great prices on their food and their coffee is some of the best in town. Once I asked the owner if they had any Sun chips, a week later he had ordered some just to make me happy. It is a step above style game store that you go to if you want to build awesome memories.

I went with 3 other people today and had an amazing time. Originally there to support Sourpuss Lemonade we decided to check it out as well and it did not disappoint. We played for about 2 hours and had so much fun. I was also looking for a specific game and although they didn't have it they offered to order it and contact me when it's in. Great service and the chocolate chip cookie was big and tasted great.

What a fantastic new place for lovers of board games! We came for the afternoon and tried a new game from their sizeable game library (Horrified), while drinking coffees. We tried the game again after ordering some delicious pizza and chicken from the Mighty Munch Mtn next door. Ended the evening by purchasing our new game at a great price! Highly recommend!

A very good place to meet for tabletop or card games. Owner is very friendly and workers are awesome! There is always a good stock of boardgames to both buy and play. Booster packs for games like Magic the Gathering are often in stock, and they even host prerelease events for new sets. There is a weekly schedule for events including the majority of popular tabletop/card games which is a great way to meet people whom you share interests with. Great store/meetup spot. There is even a cafe with drinks (soft and alcoholic) and great food.

What an amazing place! Contrarians is the game store we have been needing in Vancouver. An amazing selection of games, but more importantly places to play them and spend time together. What a gift to the community! Plus having a library of games to play in store is awesome! Thank!
